Motivation inspires Romania’s wheelchair-bound basketball stars.
“At first I was scared that I would make my disability worse, and I didn’t want to play,” she says during a break in a match to showcase wheelchair basketball for the recent International Day for People with Disabilities.
“But once I started, I gained so much courage. Before, even off the court, I would sit on the edge of conversations and be quiet. Today, I am interrupting, in the centre, and people listen to me.”
